The Abia-based woman, Amarachi Chinyere, who was seen being assaulted in a viral video, has alleged that the suspect, Agwu Ukpo, attacked her after she rejected his sexual advances.

Amarachi made the allegation in a video posted on Instagram by human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, where she narrated the events that allegedly led to the assault and demanded justice.

Speaking in pidgin English, Amarachi claimed that Ukpo had approached her for a sexual relationship and offered her ₦50,000, but she declined because she was married.

“One day, that boy asked me, he say he wan f**k me. I tell am say no. He say he go give me ₦50,000. I tell am no, say I don marry,” she said.

According to her, the rejection caused tension between them and later led to a series of disagreements in the house.

She alleged that on one occasion, after she returned from the market and cooked, Ukpo bought noodles and poured her soup into a plate used for washing hands. Amarachi said she reported the matter to Ukpo’s brother, identified as Obinna.

“I go market go buy something to cook. I cook finish, he con commot go buy indomie come, he con carry that my soup pour am inside washing hand plate, I con tell him brother Obinna,” she said.

Amarachi said days later, Ukpo prepared soup which had stayed in the pot for about three days. She said she retaliated by placing the soup in the same spot where he had allegedly dumped hers, but Obinna intervened and asked her to leave Ukpo alone.

“Three days after, the boy cook soup, the soup don dey like three days for pot, e remain small, I con carry that soup put am the same place he put my own. Obinna con carry the soup, pour am back say make I leave am make he dey carry him wahala dey go,” she said.

She alleged that Ukpo later accused her of insulting him and threatened to beat her. According to her, when she questioned what she had done wrong, he immediately attacked her.

“The boy con dey shout say I dey insult am, say he go beat me one day. I tell am say you go beat me, wetin I do you. He con hold me for that place, con dey beat. He hit me for back, he dey hit my eye, he dey hit me for chest,” she said.

Amarachi further claimed that the person recording the video asked Ukpo to stop, but he allegedly ignored the plea and continued beating her until she became weak.

“The boy wey dey do video, he dey say leave this girl alone, this girl no do you anything, he no mind the boy, he con dey beat me. My body don weak, the boy from fence con run,” she added.

The victim is now calling on the authorities to prosecute the suspect and ensure that she gets justice. She also demanded reimbursement of the money her husband allegedly spent on her treatment.

“I want justice. I want police people carry am go court. All the money wey my husband spend, he go pay back,” she said.

The Abia State Police Command had arrested the 37-year-old suspect on Thursday after the video of the assault went viral.

Police said Ukpo is currently under investigation and may face charges including assault and attempted murder.
