Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has warned that he will challenge Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, politically ahead of the 2027 general elections, accusing him of sidelining him and taking control of the Peoples Democratic Party structure in the South-West.

Fayose made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television, where he alleged that Makinde had taken over the political network he built within the PDP in the region.

The former governor said he would not ignore what he described as unfair treatment, insisting that he was not a politician who could be taken for granted.

“We will teach Makinde a political lesson. If you respect me, you will get all my values and support, but if you disrespect me, you will get the downside of Fayose. I’m not a politician that is taken for granted,” he said.

Fayose accused Makinde of weakening the South-West PDP and taking over his political structure.

“Makinde destroyed the South-West Peoples Democratic Party and took my structure. When we are in politics, we are meant to be fair,” he said.

He also criticised Makinde’s reported presidential ambition, describing it as one of the issues that strained their political relationship.

According to Fayose, while Makinde has the right to aspire to the presidency, political ambition should not come at the expense of loyalty and trust.

“Declaring for presidency was his undoing. He has the right to contest for president but we don’t betray trust. Elections are not far away again. We will get there,” he added.

The former governor further accused Makinde of overreaching politically, saying he had “stolen the land of the deities,” and warning that the situation would eventually be reversed.

His comments come amid continuing internal disagreements within the PDP in the South-West, as key political actors begin fresh alignments and positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
