Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Kanu Godwin Agabi, SAN, CON, is set to deliver the keynote address at the public presentation of two books on electronic evidence authored by Hon. Justice (Professor) Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye, a retired judge, scholar and leading authority on electronic evidence in Nigeria.

The event will also feature the formal inauguration of the Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye Educational Foundation for Indigent Students, an initiative established to support academically promising but financially disadvantaged students.

The two books to be presented are Electronic Evidence, Second Edition and A Compendium of Cases on Electronic Evidence, Volume II, 2020–2025.

The works are expected to contribute significantly to the development of law, judicial practice, legal education and the administration of justice in Nigeria, particularly at a time when digital transactions, online communications, cyber activities and electronically generated materials have become central to litigation, governance and commercial life.

Chief Agabi’s keynote address will focus on “The State of the Nation,” a theme considered timely in view of the challenges confronting Nigeria’s democracy, justice system, economy, security, institutions and moral direction.

Chief Agabi is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most distinguished legal minds. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Commander of the Order of the Niger, he has had a long and illustrious career in law, public service, politics and national leadership.

As Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, he occupied the highest legal office in the country and provided leadership on constitutional law, justice administration, governance and national policy.

Beyond public office, Agabi is admired for his depth of intellect, calm authority, humility, courage and commitment to the rule of law. He is also regarded as a statesman whose interventions often reflect wisdom, balance, patriotism and concern for the future of the nation.

His choice as keynote speaker underscores the significance of the occasion and the stature of the author, Justice Omolaye-Ajileye, whose scholarship in electronic evidence has helped deepen understanding of one of the most dynamic areas of modern law.

The public presentation will bring together leading figures from the Bench, Bar, academia, government and the wider public.

Beyond celebrating legal scholarship, the event will also advance a humanitarian cause through the launch of the Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye Educational Foundation for Indigent Students.

The Foundation is designed to provide support for students who have the academic ability to excel but are held back by financial difficulties.

For Justice Omolaye-Ajileye, the Foundation represents a personal commitment to helping young people overcome financial barriers to education. It is founded on the belief that poverty should not be allowed to destroy talent, ambition or destiny.

The presentation of the books and inauguration of the Foundation are expected to be a landmark occasion, combining intellectual engagement, national reflection and charitable purpose.

With Chief Kanu Agabi delivering the keynote address, the event promises to offer not only a celebration of legal scholarship but also a sober conversation on Nigeria’s present condition and future direction.
