The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Abia State Branch, has suspended its industrial action with immediate effect following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Abia State Government.

In a press release dated May 14, 2026, the union said the decision was reached after the agreement was ratified by its congress, noting that the MOU substantially addressed the demands presented by judiciary workers in the state.

JUSUN commended the Governor of Abia State, Alex Chioma Otti, for his intervention and commitment to improving the welfare of judiciary workers.

The union also appreciated residents of Abia State and members of the public for their support and understanding throughout the strike period, describing it as part of the collective effort to strengthen the judiciary.

It further extended appreciation to the Chief Judge of Abia State, Justice Lilian Abai, the management of the judiciary, judges, members of the Nigerian Bar Association, and other stakeholders for their roles during the industrial action.

JUSUN praised its members for their patience, resilience, discipline, and solidarity throughout the strike, while expressing hope that all agreements reached in the MOU would be fully implemented to enhance justice administration and strengthen judicial independence in Abia State.

The statement was jointly signed by the State Chairman, Comrade Prince Chinedu Ezeh, and the State Secretary, Comrade Pastor Chibueze Nwachukwu.
