The Legal Education Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, in partnership with the NBA Institute of Continuing Legal Education, NBA-ICLE, has announced plans to hold the 2026 Legal Education Summit in Abuja.

The summit is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the NBA National Secretariat, Abuja, by 10:00 a.m.

The theme of the summit is “Accelerating Legal Education Reform in Nigeria: Progress, Problems & Prospects.”

According to the Committee, the event will bring together leading voices from the Bar, academia, and industry to examine the current state of legal education in Nigeria, identify existing challenges, and propose practical reforms for the future of the profession.

The summit will be hosted by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, and the Chairman of the NBA Legal Education Committee, Prof. Damilola S. Olawuyi, SAN.

The keynote speakers are the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, and the Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Prof. Uchefula Ugonna Chukwumaeze, SAN.

The Committee described the summit as a landmark gathering aimed at deepening conversations around legal education reform and charting a bold path forward for the profession.

It urged lawyers, academics, law students, policymakers, and other stakeholders interested in the future of legal education in Nigeria to register and participate in the event.
