The International Bar Association (IBA) has announced that its Judges Forum conference, themed “In Defence of Justice,” will hold from July 9 to July 10, 2026, in Abuja, Nigeria, bringing together judicial officers, legal practitioners, and stakeholders to deliberate on key issues affecting the administration of justice.

The conference will feature a range of sessions on contemporary judicial topics and will also include guided tours and official engagements at the Nigerian Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, providing participants with direct institutional exposure.

According to the organisers, early registration discounts are available for delegates who book on or before June 5, 2026, while the delegate search tool will become accessible from May 22, 2026 via the MyIBA platform. Register here

The IBA further disclosed that online registration and amendments will close on June 26, 2026, after which participation will be subject to availability through direct contact with the IBA conference office.

On cancellations, the association stated that:

  • Requests made on or before June 5 will attract a 15% administrative charge,
  • Requests made between June 6 and June 25 will incur a 25% charge,
  • While no refunds will be granted after June 25, 2026, regardless of circumstances, including visa challenges.

The IBA noted that in the event of rescheduling, delegates’ bookings will be transferred automatically at no extra cost, with refunds available if the new date is unsuitable or if the event cannot be held within 12 months. Register here

In line with global sustainability goals, the association encouraged delegates to adopt carbon-efficient travel practices, including the use of direct flights, public transport, and shared or electric vehicles where possible.

The organisers also opened opportunities for interested participants to serve as speakers, urging qualified individuals to submit their profiles and areas of expertise to the IBA Judges Forum leadership for consideration. Register here
