The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has dismissed as false a viral result slip claiming that a candidate from Cross River State scored 394 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The purported result, widely shared on social media, alleged that one Okon Winniefred Sampson recorded an exceptional score of 394 out of 400, with breakdowns of 96 in Use of English, 99 in Biology, 98 in Chemistry, and 99 in Physics.

The claim was amplified by a social media user, @Onsogbu, who described the performance as “a truly exceptional academic achievement.”

However, reacting in a statement on Sunday, JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, described the result slip as entirely fabricated and urged Nigerians to disregard it.

“A purported result slip currently being circulated, claiming that a candidate scored 394 in the 2026 UTME, is entirely fake. It is surprising that such a fabrication is being shared by otherwise well-informed Nigerians,” the statement read.

Benjamin explained that UTME results are strictly view-only and are not designed for printing or circulation in the format being shared online. He noted that the document in circulation was based on a fabricated template, which clearly indicates its lack of authenticity.

He further pointed out inconsistencies in the registration number displayed on the slip, stating that it does not conform to JAMB’s system-generated numbering format.

“Secondly, the Board’s registration numbers are system-generated and do not follow the pattern ‘20269’ as seen on the fake slip. There are several other inconsistencies that, even at a glance, expose the result as fraudulent,” he added.

The Board advised members of the public to rely solely on official communication channels for accurate information regarding UTME results, reiterating that all results remain view-only at this stage.

“The public is strongly advised to disregard this fake result and rely only on official channels for accurate information. All results at the moment are view-only,” Benjamin stated.
