President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he remains unfazed by mounting pressure from opposition forces ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that he will not be intimidated or distracted from pursuing his administration’s reform agenda.

The president made the remarks on Thursday at the State House, Abuja, while receiving a delegation of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors led by Hope Uzodimma.

“They want to scare me off? It’s a lie. I’ve been through this path before,” Tinubu said, stressing his resolve to continue on what he described as a necessary journey of national transformation.

He reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria’s development, emphasising that no external force can build the country except its citizens. According to him, progress requires bold ideas and forward-thinking leadership rather than reliance on past approaches.

Addressing concerns over the state of the economy, Tinubu said he takes full responsibility for current realities, describing his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, as a political partner.

“I took over from myself,” he said. “If something is wrong, accept it, correct it, and move on.”

He acknowledged that ongoing economic reforms may be challenging but assured Nigerians that the long-term benefits would justify the sacrifices.

In a veiled criticism of opposition figures, the president questioned their track records and dismissed attempts to undermine his administration. He urged citizens not to be swayed by misinformation, insisting that his government remains focused on restructuring the economy and replacing systems that have hindered national prosperity.

Tinubu also used a metaphor to suggest that critics would eventually recognise the impact of his policies, saying those who fail to see progress would be made to see it.

Reiterating his commitment to democratic principles, Tinubu stressed the importance of the rule of law, separation of powers, and respect for judicial decisions.

“We cannot submit to disobedience of lawful court orders. We must embrace the judiciary, whether it favours us or not,” he said.

He called for a shared national vision, noting that unity remains essential to achieving sustainable development and prosperity.

The president urged members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to intensify grassroots mobilisation and public engagement, describing them as key drivers in promoting government policies and national consciousness.

“You represent the conscience of a nation determined to break the shackles of poverty and hopelessness,” he said.

The event was attended by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, several serving governors, and former political office holders including Aminu Bello Masari and Ifeanyi Okowa.

Also speaking, Uzodimma highlighted the role of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in translating government policies into grassroots messaging, while party leaders pledged continued mobilisation efforts ahead of the next election cycle.

Tinubu concluded by assuring supporters that despite the challenges ahead, he remains committed to delivering inclusive growth, expanding opportunities for young people, and ensuring that all Nigerians benefit from ongoing reforms.
