The Nigerian DJ Association has announced a temporary ban on Burna Boy’s songs, instructing disc jockeys within Nigeria and abroad to remove the Grammy-winning artist’s tracks from their playlists.

The decision follows reports of an alleged nightclub clash involving Burna Boy and members of his crew against DJ Tunez at a popular Lagos venue on Monday night.
A video appearing to show Burna Boy and DJ Tunez in a physical altercation has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread reactions.
The incident reportedly took place on Monday at Obi’s House, the popular weekly Afrobeats party in Lagos.
According to eyewitness accounts shared online, what started as a heated argument between the two entertainers quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.
Some users claimed that members of Burna Boy’s crew joined the fray, with DJ Tunez reportedly being attacked during the incident. Other partygoers rushed in to separate them and calm the situation.
The exact cause of the dispute remains unclear, but online speculation suggests it may be linked to long-standing industry rivalries — especially DJ Tunez’s close association with Wizkid, who fans often compare to Burna Boy.
Others suggest the tension was nothing new, arguing that the pair have been at odds for some time due to DJ Tunez’s relationship with Wizkid, Burna Boy’s long-time rival.
In solidarity with DJ Tunez, the Nigerian DJ Association issued a press statement on its Instagram account, emphasising its commitment to protecting DJs and promoting equality within the profession.
“Burna Boy Music is temporarily out of any of our DJs playlist till further notice. Our team will carry out a proper investigation on last night incident that happened to one of our own, DJ Tunez,” the association announced on Tuesday.
Following the incident, DJ Tunez, also known as Ogbafia, took a swipe at Burna Boy on X (formerly Twitter).
The disc jockey appeared to mock Burna Boy, calling him a “coward” and writing: “All Signs of Weakness” — a twist on Burna Boy’s latest album title, “No Sign of Weakness.”
Burna Boy broke his silence with a mocking video response.
In the clip, the Grammy winner is seen dancing to “Money Constant” by DJ Tunez featuring Wizkid, DJ Maphorisa, and Mavo.
While singing along, Burna Boy changed the lyric “Ogbafia dey my side” to “Ogbafia dey for ground,” then dramatically fell to the ground — a move widely seen as a jab at DJ Tunez, suggesting the DJ was put on the ground during the altercation.
Burna Boy has not issued any official public statement on the incident as of press time.
The Nigerian DJ Association’s ban on Burna Boy’s music represents a significant development in the aftermath of the nightclub altercation.
