Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has once again stirred controversy with strong criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the country’s security situation and economic hardship.

The outspoken artiste made the remarks during a live performance in Benin City, Edo State, where he openly condemned the Federal Government’s handling of insecurity, particularly referencing recent attacks in Jos, Plateau State.

Abdulkareem criticised the President’s visit to Jos, alleging that it lacked direct engagement with victims affected by the violence.

“The Commander-in-Chief, who has all the security personnel, went to Jos and could not enter the town to console those who lost their loved ones to terrorists,” he said.

The rapper also took aim at Seyi Tinubu over a previous statement in which he described his father as the “best president ever,” insisting that such a judgment should be left to Nigerians.

“If your father is the best president, you are not the one who would tell us; we would be the ones to tell you,” he added.

In his remarks, Abdulkareem described Tinubu as the “worst president,” while also expressing frustration over the economic conditions and hardship faced by citizens.

His comments quickly went viral on social media, generating mixed reactions, with critics of the government supporting his stance and others condemning his language as excessive.

The latest outburst is consistent with Abdulkareem’s long history of political commentary and activism through music. In 2024, he released the song Emilokan, where he criticised religious leaders, including Enoch Adeboye, urging them to speak out on governance issues.

In 2025, he followed up with another track titled Tell Your Papa, which directly addressed Seyi Tinubu and highlighted the struggles of ordinary Nigerians. The song was subsequently banned by the National Broadcasting Commission for breaching provisions of the Nigerian Broadcasting Code.

Abdulkareem is widely known for his 2004 hit Jaga Jaga, which was banned during the administration of Olusegun Obasanjo but later became a symbol of protest against bad governance.

Observers note that his latest remarks reflect growing public debate over insecurity, governance, and economic challenges in Nigeria, as reactions remain sharply divided along political lines.
