The Bauchi State Judiciary has announced the commencement of the Bauchi State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2026, following their formal approval and signing by the Honourable Chief Judge of the state.

In a circular issued by the Chief Registrar’s Office of the Bauchi State High Court, stakeholders were informed that the new rules will come into force on January 28, 2026.

The notice, dated January 2026 and referenced HCDS/PER/134, was addressed to High Court Judges, private and public legal practitioners, and members of the general public.

According to the circular, the signing of the 2026 Rules automatically brings an end to the operation of the Bauchi State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2022, which ceased to have effect on January 27, 2026.

“I have been directed to inform all stakeholders that the Honourable Chief Judge of Bauchi State has officially signed the new Bauchi State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2026, which will come into effect on the 28th day of January, 2026,” the notice stated.

The judiciary further disclosed that copies of the new Rules are available for purchase at the Office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of Justice, Bauchi, located at the High Court Complex, Yandoka Road.

Each copy is being sold at the cost of ₦10,000.

The circular was signed by Barrister Fatima Abubakar, Chief Registrar of the Bauchi State High Court, who conveyed the assurances and regards of the Honourable Chief Judge.

New Civil Procedure Rules Take Effect January 28

The introduction of the 2026 Civil Procedure Rules is expected to guide civil litigation processes in Bauchi State courts, replacing the previous procedural framework and ensuring compliance with the updated judicial standards.
