The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba, has sworn in 126 new Notaries Public during a ceremony held on Wednesday at the Osborne High Court Complex in Ikoyi, Lagos. Notably, 11 of the inductees participated virtually, marking a modern approach to the proceedings.

In his address, Justice Alogba emphasized the vital role Notaries Public play in the judiciary and the broader legal system, urging the new appointees to maintain integrity, responsibility, and the highest ethical standards.

“Your signatures carry significant weight as representatives of the judiciary. All notarised documents must be legal, genuine, and carefully verified before endorsement. The authenticity and accuracy of these documents often have national and international implications,” the Chief Judge stated.

Photos from the ceremony, shared by the Lagos State Government, captured the newly inducted Notaries Public taking their oath of office.

Speaking on behalf of the new Notaries Public, Mrs. Opeyokun Adejoke assured that they would diligently discharge their duties without engaging in any conduct that could embarrass the Chief Judge or the Lagos State Judiciary.

One of the inductees, Somadina Okorie, praised the process as “smooth, timely, and orderly,” while expressing his commitment to contributing to improved public service delivery.

The induction is seen as a key step in bolstering the integrity and efficiency of Lagos State’s legal and judicial processes, particularly in a commercial hub where the demand for notarised documents remains high.

The event aligns with ongoing reforms in the Lagos Judiciary aimed at expanding access to notarisation services and reducing delays in document authentication.
