*TheNigeriaLawyer Clarifies No Intention to Malign Gadzama’s Reputation

Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN, has categorically denied claims linking him to the alleged lifting of a court-ordered restriction on OML 40 corporate filings by the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Ishaq Hussaini Magaji, SAN.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, Gadzama described the allegations as false, unfounded, and a deliberate attempt to malign his reputation. He clarified that he has no personal or professional relationship with the CAC Registrar-General and has never interacted with him in any capacity.

According to Gadzama, “Magaji neither visits my law firm nor my residence, just as I do not visit his home. The attempt to link me to this matter is uncalled for.” He emphasized that he has no involvement with the CAC filing of OML 40, any related meetings, or transactions.

“I unequivocally assert that I, Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN, have no business whatsoever, directly or indirectly, with the subject matter of your publication, including the OML 40 corporate filings, the CAC Registrar-General, or any alleged mediation or transaction related thereto,” he stated.

He also revealed that Magaji refused to register the Nigerian Law Society (NLS) and that they are currently in court over the matter, emphasizing that he has nothing to do with him.

Gadzama further stressed that the fabricated claims aim to damage his long-standing reputation as a legal icon in Nigeria, built over nearly four decades of practice with high professional ethics, integrity, and circumspection.

While distancing himself from the controversy, Gadzama called on anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies to investigate the actions of the CAC Registrar-General and ensure that the law takes its full course if any wrongdoing is established.

In response, TheNigeriaLawyer apologizes and clarifies that a previous publication, copied from SaharaReporters, had erroneously included Gadzama’s name, which has now been expunged, while noting that there was no intention to malign his reputation.
