Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has issued a statement affirming the authenticity of circulating medical reports alleging substance abuse by his wife, actress Regina Daniels.

The statement, released on Saturday through the Senator’s Instagram page and signed by his Communication Team lead, addressed the controversy that erupted after one of the implicated hospitals previously distanced itself from the leaked documents.

Serenity Royale Hospital in Abuja had earlier clarified that it did not publish or circulate the alleged medical report detailing Daniels’ treatment for substance use disorder. The report, which went viral, was said to have been signed by the hospital’s Managing Director and Head of Clinical Services, Dr. Adekunle Adesina, indicating that Daniels was placed on a home-based detox programme beginning September 24, 2025.

In his statement, Nwoko said the reports were authentic and that the hospital’s denial was only in relation to the leak, not the content.

“A medical report concerning Regina Nwoko has been circulating online. The reports are genuine,” the statement read.

“The rehabilitation centre only clarified that it did not publish or circulate the documents, which is expected because medical institutions must protect client confidentiality. They did not deny authoring the reports; their concern is the leak itself.”

The Senator’s team urged the public to review the documents, stating that both the toxicology report and the Serenity Royale Hospital report “confirm the presence of the same substances, all at levels that pose serious health risks: Marijuana, Cocaine, Morphine, Opiates at extremely elevated levels, Alcohol at a critically dangerous level.”

The statement also cited a report from Nizamiya Hospital dated October 3, which indicated that Daniels had been brought in unconscious due to a drug overdose.

According to the Senator, the reports further detail challenges faced by the rehabilitation centre, including alleged interference from the actress’s siblings.

“They openly stated that they do not see anything wrong in giving her alcohol and weed, even while she was undergoing rehabilitation, and they have continued enabling her substance use,” the statement added.

The Communication Team said these actions made effective treatment “impossible” and contributed to Daniels’ inability to complete rehabilitation.

The statement also alleged that the actress’s recent behaviour reflects ongoing struggles.

“Many have questioned why the Senator is insisting on therapy. His determination comes from the clear reality that several of Regina’s recent decisions are not coming from a stable and healthy frame of mind,” it read.

“He is genuinely concerned. She is vulnerable, unprotected, and exposed to individuals who exploit her for personal gain.”

The Senator’s team added that attempts to handle the issue privately had failed, saying the matter could no longer be kept out of the public space due to the severity of the alleged substance use and documented medical emergencies.

The statement concluded: “Regina needs consistent treatment, support, and protection. Not denial, not interference, and not enabling. She is a mother, and she deserves the chance to regain her health and stability.”

Meanwhile, Regina Daniels has previously addressed her estranged husband’s public claims. She admitted to past drug use but insisted that her substance use was not the cause of their marital issues.

Daniels accused Nwoko of exaggerating the situation, manipulating the narrative, and attempting to damage her reputation. She further alleged that Nwoko enabled her drug use and isolated her by targeting her friends and family.
