A United States lawmaker, Riley Moore, has cautioned the Federal Government of Nigeria against underestimating President Donald Trump’s determination to act over the alleged killings of Christians in the country.

In a post on his X handle on Saturday, Moore warned that President Trump is ready to take decisive measures if the violence persists.
“Do not test President Trump’s resolve – he is serious about ending the ongoing slaughter of Christians in Nigeria,” Moore wrote.
The congressman urged Nigerian authorities to cooperate with Washington to address the crisis.
“I am asking the Nigerian government to do the right thing and partner with the United States to protect Christians and end the slaughter of our brothers and sisters in Christ,” he added.
Moore’s statement follows President Trump’s remarks last Friday on his Truth Social platform, where he described Christianity in Nigeria as facing an “existential threat” from radical Islamist groups.
“Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby designating Nigeria a ‘country of particular concern,’” Trump stated.
The U.S. president further pledged that his administration “cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening,” adding that America would be “ready, willing, and able to protect our great Christian population around the world.”
Trump also directed members of Congress to investigate the situation, instructing Congressman Riley Moore, Chairman Tom Cole, and the House Appropriations Committee to report back to him.
On November 1, Trump said he had ordered the Pentagon to draw up “options for possible military measures” against terrorist groups in Nigeria, claiming the action would aim to protect Christian communities in the country.
In response, the Federal Government of Nigeria rejected the allegations, with President Bola Tinubu reaffirming that Nigeria upholds religious freedom and protects the rights of all faiths.
The U.S. threat of potential military intervention has drawn sharp international reactions, with China and Russia expressing support for President Tinubu and calling on Washington to respect Nigeria’s sovereignty.
Meanwhile, Moore, who is reportedly leading congressional investigations into the alleged “genocide of Christians” in Nigeria, reiterated in an interview with Fox News that the Trump administration will not tolerate continued attacks on Christians.
“Do not test President Trump’s resolve. He is serious about ending the ongoing slaughter of Christians in Nigeria,” Moore said.
“I am urging the Nigerian government to partner with the United States to protect Christians and end this crisis.”
The Nigerian government, however, has consistently denied any persecution of religious groups, insisting that the country remains committed to upholding justice and equality for all citizens regardless of faith.
