Israel reportedly targeted Hamas negotiators involved in ceasefire talks in Gaza in a series of airstrikes on the Qatari capital, Doha, on Tuesday, according to the Gulf state’s broadcaster Al Jazeera, citing a Hamas source.

The Palestinian militant group’s political leadership has been based in Doha for several years. Israeli media cited a senior Israeli official who confirmed that the strikes were aimed at top Hamas leaders, including Khalil al-Hayya, the Gaza chief and senior negotiator who has been living in exile in Qatar.
The attacks caused explosions in Doha’s upscale Katara District, with smoke visible from multiple locations in the city.
Israel’s military, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), said the operation targeted the “top leadership of the Hamas terrorist organization,” confirming that Hamas officials in Qatar were the focus.
Qatar strongly condemned the strikes, calling them a “cowardly Israeli attack” and a “blatant violation of international law.”
The incident has sparked concern over escalating tensions in the region, as the targeted Hamas leaders were reportedly engaged in ongoing ceasefire negotiations for Gaza. International observers are closely monitoring the situation amid fears of broader repercussions.
