The Nigerian Police Force has directed all state commands, zonal commands, formations, and specialised units to urgently compile and submit a comprehensive list of officers who hold PhD degrees.

According to the directive from the Force Headquarters in Abuja, officers in charge are required to forward the lists in both hard and soft copies. In addition, copies of approval letters for study, as well as certificates for first degrees, master’s degrees, and PhDs, must also be submitted.

Soft copies are to be provided in Excel format on a flash drive, under clearly designated headings. The directive, described as “urgent,” was issued under reference number CB: 4001/FS/FHQ/ABJ/VOL2/15 and signed by the Force Secretary on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police.

Commands in locations including Jos, Kano, Ikeja, Kaduna, Maiduguri, Oji-River, and Enugu have been instructed to comply immediately. The move follows earlier directives for all commands nationwide to submit lists of officers with advanced academic qualifications as part of preparations for upcoming promotion exercises.

The Force stressed that the compilation should include inspectors and rank-and-file officers holding first degrees, master’s degrees, and doctoral degrees, as well as those with approved study postings.
