Popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM1, has been banned from using airport facilities across Nigeria for six months by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) following a disruptive incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The altercation, which occurred on Monday, August 5, 2025, disrupted boarding procedures for a Lagos-bound ValueJet flight (VK 201) and prompted a joint investigation by the NCAA and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, preliminary findings revealed that KWAM1 attempted to board the flight with a flask containing liquid beyond the permissible limit. Aviation security personnel and the flight captain reportedly advised him against carrying the item, citing international aviation safety regulations that prohibit liquids exceeding 100 millilitres in hand luggage.

However, the musician allegedly refused to comply, insisting the flask contained prescribed medication. The situation further escalated when KWAM1 reportedly poured the contents—believed to be alcohol on a security official, and then proceeded to obstruct the aircraft by standing in front of it as it was preparing to taxi, prompting urgent intervention by airport staff.

As a result of his actions, the NCAA imposed a six-month no-fly ban on the artist for breaching aviation safety rules. In addition, the two pilots involved were suspended for attempting to initiate departure procedures without resolving the security standoff.

In response to the allegations, KWAM1’s media team issued a statement denying any wrongdoing. They claimed the flask contained only water provided in the airport lounge and that the artist neither blocked the aircraft nor acted in a threatening manner. The statement also alleged that senior FAAN and ValueJet officials later apologized to KWAM1 and even offered him a private jet, which he declined.
