Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejumo OFR (Rtd) officially assumed office as the Administrator of the National Judicial Institute (NJI), Abuja, on Friday, August 1, 2025.

Justice Adejumo’s appointment was made by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat Kere-Ekun, who also serves as Chairman of the Institute’s Board of Governors.

The new administrator takes over from Justice Salisu Abdullahi, whose four-year tenure ended on July 31, 2025. During the transition, Justice Adejumo commended his predecessor for his meritorious service and tireless commitment to the growth of the Institute.

In his inaugural address, Justice Adejumo called for the support of the Institute’s management and staff, expressing his commitment to elevating the institution to global standards. He emphasized his vision for enhancing the quality of judicial education and training in Nigeria.

The National Judicial Institute serves as Nigeria’s premier institution for continuing education, training, and development of judicial officers and support staff across all levels of the judiciary. As a center of excellence in judicial studies, the NJI is mandated to promote efficiency, uniformity, and improvement in the quality of judicial services nationwide.

Justice Adejumo brings extensive experience to his new role, having served as President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria until his retirement in 2019. His appointment is expected to further strengthen the Institute’s capacity to deliver world-class judicial training programs.
