Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has officially referred former U.S. President Barack Obama to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution, citing what she described as “irrefutable evidence” that the Obama administration orchestrated a false intelligence narrative around alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Speaking during a White House press briefing on Wednesday, Gabbard claimed that declassified intelligence documents prove that Obama and his national security team “knowingly directed the creation of a fraudulent intelligence community assessment” aimed at promoting the narrative that Russia interfered to help Donald Trump win the election.
“There is irrefutable evidence that details how President Obama and his national security team directed the creation of an intelligence community assessment that they knew was false,” Gabbard said. “They knew it would promote this contrived narrative that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help President Trump win — selling it to the American people as though it were true. It wasn’t.”
According to Gabbard, the evidence shows a pattern of politicization and manipulation of intelligence by the Obama administration to delegitimize Trump’s presidency before he was even sworn in.
“All of this confirms a gross politicization and manipulation of intelligence by the Obama administration intended to delegitimize President Trump — ultimately usurping the will of the American people,” she added.
Gabbard stated that the documents have been turned over to both the DOJ and the FBI to evaluate potential criminal implications.
“We have referred and will continue to refer all of these documents to the Department of Justice and the FBI,” she said. “The evidence that we have found and that we have released directly point to President Obama leading the manufacturing of this intelligence assessment. There are multiple pieces of evidence and intelligence that confirm that fact.”
