The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced a one-month postponement in the implementation of its revised service fees and penalties, shifting the commencement date from August 1 to September 1, 2025.

The decision was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday titled “Postponement of Implementation of New Fees and Penalties for Document Downloads.”
The CAC said the move follows transitional difficulties encountered by users on its upgraded Company Registration Portal (CRP), especially in areas such as document downloads, payment processing, post-incorporation filings for Business Names, and the upload of required documents.
“In consideration of feedback from our customers and stakeholders, and in line with our commitment to ensure a seamless user experience, the Commission wishes to announce the postponement of the implementation of the new fees and penalties for document downloads beyond 7 days,” the statement said.
It further noted that the enforcement, which was initially scheduled to begin on August 1, will now take effect from September 1, 2025.
According to the Commission, the postponement will allow for continued efforts to stabilize the registration portal and improve service delivery without resorting to a full system shutdown.
“This temporary relief is part of our commitment to supporting businesses and ensuring a seamless user experience during this transition phase,” it added, while appreciating users’ patience and understanding.
The announcement follows the Commission’s earlier notice in which it cited rising operational costs and prevailing economic pressures as the rationale behind its new pricing structure.
The CAC is the latest in a growing list of federal agencies revising service fees in response to inflation and increased cost of operations.
In May 2025, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) announced an upward review of its fees, including a 75% increase in the cost of correcting date of birth on the National Identification Number (NIN) database—from ₦16,630 to ₦28,574.
Although the NIMC later waived fees for date of birth corrections attributed to its own errors, the agency maintained that the overall price adjustments were necessary to align with current economic realities and sustain service quality.
