The Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Council, Hon. Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, GCON, has paid a heartfelt tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his life as one marked by duty, discipline, and unwavering service to the nation.

In a condolence message issued on Monday, Justice Kekere-Ekun expressed deep sadness over Buhari’s passing but acknowledged a life of service that left an indelible legacy.

“I received with sadness, but with gratitude to God for a life well lived, the news of the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari (1942–2025),” the CJN said.

She extended condolences to Buhari’s immediate family, the government and people of Katsina State, and all Nigerians, noting that the late president served Nigeria both as a military Head of State and a democratically elected President.

“President Buhari’s life was defined by duty, discipline, and a remarkable consistency of purpose. His unwavering commitment to the Nigerian project, despite personal and political setbacks, stands as a lasting testament to his resilience and belief in the nation’s potential,” she stated.

At a time when national values are in flux, Justice Kekere-Ekun said Buhari’s example serves as a reminder of the importance of perseverance, principle, and public service.

She urged Nigerians to reflect on the former president’s legacy and draw inspiration from his dedication to national development.

“May his soul rest in perfect peace,” she concluded.
