A dramatic scene from a Nigerian courtroom has gone viral on social media after a video captured a heated outburst during proceedings, with one of the parties screaming, “Objection kill your mother, objection kill your grandmother, you thief!” before suddenly apologising, saying, “Sorry, my Lord.”

In the now widely circulated video, shared by user CHUKS 🍥 (@ChuksEricE) on X (formerly Twitter), the clip was captioned: “He say objection keee em mama?? No be small thing dey sup inside court oo.”

The footage shows a visibly stunned young lawyer, whose name TheNigeriaLawyer could not confirm, seated and reacting with disbelief to the exchange, appearing to mutter or say, “Nor be small happen for court today,” as the tension escalated. Another individual, whose identity or legal standing remains unclear, was also heard threatening, “I will throw you out.”

While the exact cause of the outburst is yet to be verified, TheNigeriaLawyer reports that it occurred during a court session. However, at the time of filing this report, the specific court where the incident took place could not be independently confirmed.

The clip has since drawn widespread commentary online, with many calling for a review of courtroom decorum and legal practice ethics, while others expressed concern over the apparent breakdown of civility during judicial proceedings. Some, however, suggested that it might be a skit or an audio extract from a different source.

Legal practitioners and the Nigerian Bar Association are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
