Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Jibrin Samuel Okutepa, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to friends, colleagues, and well-wishers who stood by him and his family following the devastating loss of his daughter, Ojochide Charity Okutepa, who passed away on June 7, 2025.

In a message titled “Appreciation to All for Standing by Me and My Family,” Okutepa described the passing of his daughter, a BSc Nursing graduate, as untimely, devastating, and traumatising. He acknowledged the deep emotional pain the family is enduring, describing it as “excruciating agony.”

“As a father, I could not comprehend the reason or reasons for this tragic loss,” he wrote. “Whatever the reason, God alone is the one who knows everything… Men can speculate and hazard all manner of guesses and stories. But God knows why and how this tragic death happened. I can’t question God. All I can say is thank you, Lord. I put my absolute trust in God.”

The respected legal practitioner extended his profound thanks to those who reached out through prayers, condolence messages, visits, and gifts, noting that the outpouring of love and compassion was deeply humbling.

“Your words of comfort, your prayers, and your condolence messages gave us hope and comfort… You demonstrated love and compassion for me and my family. I did not know that you loved me this much,” he said.

Quoting from the scriptures, including Revelation 21:4 and Job 23:10, Okutepa expressed his faith in divine healing and strength during the family’s period of grief. He said he takes solace in knowing that God will eventually wipe away their tears and restore peace.

On behalf of his entire family, he concluded with a prayer of blessing for all who supported them: “May the good Lord bless you and be with you always. Thank you, and thank you.”
