THE newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, CP Moshood Jimoh, yesterday, warned criminals to either repent or leave the state.

CP Jimoh issued the warning during his inaugural press briefing immediately after assuming office as the 41st Commissioner of Police in the state at the Lagos Police Command headquarters.

Speaking to journalists, CP Jimoh said: “The Lagos State Police Command will leave no stone unturned in tackling crimes such as armed robbery, traffic robberies, cultism, and other violent offences. Criminals are strongly advised to abandon their ways or leave Lagos. The state will be too hot for them.

“The Lagos State Police Command will implement innovative crime prevention strategies to curb violent crimes and swiftly detect criminal activities. We will proactively address emerging security threats that could disrupt public peace and order. By leveraging actionable intelligence and crime mapping tools, we will tackle violent crimes head-on, ensuring a safer environment for all.

“The full weight of the law will be applied to criminals. They are strongly warned to either abandon crime or leave Lagos State. Moving forward, Lagos will be a no-go area for criminals and their associates.”

Assuring Lagos residents of a more proactive and intelligence-driven approach to policing, the Police boss said: “Our goal is to ensure that law-abiding citizens and corporate entities—both local and multinational, can go about their daily activities and means of livelihood peacefully. The police, under my command, will work tirelessly to ensure the protection of investments, whether by the government, local businesses, or foreign investors in the state.

“Under my leadership, human rights abuses will not be tolerated. Our approach to policing will be rooted in international best practices, emphasizing professionalism, respect for human dignity, and adherence to the rule of law. All police personnel across the command have been instructed to be civil, polite, yet firm in carrying out their duties.”
