The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) of Anambra State, chaired by Hon. Justice O.M. Anyachebelu, the Chief Judge of Anambra State, has issued a series of disciplinary measures following petitions against several judiciary staff for misconduct.

At its 285th meeting on January 31, 2025, the JSC deliberated on the findings of an investigation and resolved to take immediate action. The measures include the removal and compulsory retirement of key personnel within the judiciary service of Anambra State.

The following actions have been taken:

  1. K.C. Obanyo Esq., Senior Magistrate at Chief Magistrate Court, Ugbenu, Awka North, has been removed from office and compulsorily retired for inefficiency and misconduct.
  2. Innocent Nnaemeka Nnachetam, Deputy Chief Registrar, who was serving as Administrative Magistrate in Orumba South, has also been removed and compulsorily retired on similar grounds.
  3. Mike Anyadiegwu Esq., Chief Magistrate Grade 2 at Chief Magistrate Court 2, Awka, has been suspended from duty for three months without pay, effective January 31, 2025.
  4. The following supporting staff at Chief Magistrate Court 2, Awka, have been suspended for three months without pay:
    • Mr. George Obi (Deputy Director)
    • Mrs. Okechukwu Uchenna (Litigation Officer)
    • Ifeanyi Okeke (Senior Registrar 1)
  5. Adaora Onyinye Onuzuluike Esq., Principal Legal Officer, has been issued a letter of reprimand and ordered to refund salary for the eight months she was absent from her duty post without permission or authorization.

These actions, aimed at maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the Anambra State judiciary, have been communicated through a press release dated February 4, 2025. The JSC emphasized its commitment to ensuring accountability within the judicial system.

The Director of Information, Okoye Ifeanyichukwu Vincent, confirmed the details of the decision on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Judicial Service Commission, Awka.
