The kidnapped member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Justice Azuka, has been found dead weeks after his abduction.

Azuka, who represented Onitsha North Constituency 1 under the Labour Party (LP), was kidnapped on December 24, 2024, along Ugwunabakpa Road, Inland Town, Onitsha.

A joint security team discovered his decomposing body near the 2nd Niger Bridge early Thursday.

Confirming the incident, Anambra Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated:

“In the early hours of today, February 6, 2025, a joint security team comprising the Police and AVG Operatives, while on a rescue mission, regrettably found Hon. Azuka’s lifeless body at the scene.”

Authorities revealed that arrested suspects led security operatives to the location where the lawmaker’s body was dumped. Investigations are ongoing to ensure justice is served.

Azuka’s murder echoes a similar case in 2022 when another Anambra lawmaker, Okey Okoye, was kidnapped and beheaded, with his remains later found in the Nnobi area.
