The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Magaji Musa Majiya, said the 52 persons defied the ban placed on the act by the police when they converged on Zoo Road to commence the racing. He noted that the ban was aimed at protecting the lives and properties of the citizens. He said when the youths sighted the policemen on the road, rather than disperse; they started pelting law enforcement agents with stones. He added that two cars were confiscated in the process. He added that when all the arrested suspects were charged to court, they all pleaded guilty and were summarily convicted and sent to six months’ imprisonment, with an option of N10,000 fine each by the presiding judge. “The Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Yusuf, has reiterated its decision to sanction anyone caught violating the laws of the state,” he added.]]>
