The Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal previously sitting in Benin City, Edo State, has been relocated to the National Judicial Institute (NJI), Airport Road, Abuja.

This relocation will take effect from Monday, January 27, 2025, according to an official notice signed by Mu’azu Ibrahim Bagudu, Esq., the Tribunal Secretary.

All parties involved in the tribunal proceedings have been advised to take note of the new location. For further inquiries, stakeholders may contact the Tribunal Secretary at 08037200013.

The tribunal’s relocation underscores its commitment to ensuring an impartial and conducive environment for the adjudication of election petitions.

It was learnt that violent attacks, persistent intimidation and disruptions by political thugs prompted the relocation of the tribunal to the nation’s capital.

Recall that thugs had disrupted tribunal sessions on multiple occasions, creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity inside its High Court premises location of the tribunal.

In one incident, a lone gunman wearing campaign T-shirt and face cap stormed a street adjacent the court, chanting provocative slogans in support of a governorship candidate while firing sporadic shots into the air.
