The family of Salome Eleojo Adaidu, the young woman allegedly murdered and dismembered by self-proclaimed gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi, has vehemently denied any prior knowledge of the suspect. In an interview with SaharaReporter’s correspondent, Patience Adaidu, the deceased’s elder sister, dismissed claims that Ajayi was in a romantic relationship with Salome.

“In my family, we’ve never seen that guy before. We don’t know him,” Patience stated emphatically. She expressed frustration with the police’s handling of the case and their lack of communication, revealing that the family was never informed about Ajayi despite his claim of knowing Salome for a year.

Patience recounted the tragic events leading to her sister’s death. Salome left home on Saturday to visit a friend named Maxwell, but the next day, the family was informed she had been in an accident in Uke. However, upon arrival, they discovered the horrifying truth – Salome had been brutally murdered and her body dismembered. “Someone carried her away and killed her. They cut her body into pieces: her head, hands, legs, even her toes. It was horrifying,” Patience said, visibly shaken.

The suspect was apprehended after a vigilant motorcyclist noticed blood dripping from a sack Ajayi was carrying. Despite his attempt to offer a staggering N100 million bribe to avoid being reported, the police took him into custody.

The family has raised concerns about the lack of transparency from the police and the potential transfer of the case to Keffi, Nasarawa State, despite the crime occurring in Abuja. Patience lamented, “The officers at the Orozo Police Station are not giving us any information. I’ve heard from others that some of my sister’s body parts were buried elsewhere, but the police didn’t inform us. We have to exhume her remains and give her a proper burial.”

She further expressed her disappointment with the progress of the case, stating, “The case hasn’t been transferred to Abuja headquarters. It feels like it’s moving backward. We just want justice. Let the suspect be interrogated properly, and let the police tell us what happened.”

Recall that Timileyin Ajayi was apprehended during a Sunday church service in Orozo, Abuja, carrying a sack containing the severed head of a woman he claimed was his girlfriend. During his confession, Ajayi alleged that a heated argument with Salome led to her picking up a knife, and he fatally stabbed her while trying to disarm her, later dismembering her body to dispose of it.

The family is demanding a thorough and transparent investigation, urging the authorities to transfer the case to the police headquarters in Abuja. “We just want justice for Salome,” Patience said. “We deserve to know the truth about what happened to her.”
