The Lagos State Police Command has announced that it has initiated legal proceedings against the organizers of an event titled ‘Global Property Conference’, which is scheduled to take place on November 9, 2024, at the Land Mark Event Centre on Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police are not aware of the program, despite the event flyer bearing the name and image of the state police commissioner, CP Olanrewaju Ishola. Hundeyin described the flyer as the work of mischief-makers attempting to exploit the commissioner’s name and picture to lend credibility and endorsement to the event.

The statement read, in part, “The Lagos State Police Command wishes to alert the general public that the Command is not aware of a programme tagged Global Property Conference whose flyer carries the name and picture of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, psc+, mnips.”

The Command urged the public to disregard any supposed connection between CP Olanrewaju Ishola and the program, assuring them that necessary legal action has been initiated against the event organizers.

Dr Stephen Akintayo is listed as the Convener of the ‘Global Property Conference’. However, attempts by SaharaReporters to contact the organizers using the numbers provided on the flyer were unsuccessful, as none of the calls connected.

The Lagos State Police Command remains committed to maintaining law and order, and will take appropriate measures against individuals or organizations found to be misusing the name or image of its officials without proper authorization.
