Zenith Bank announced on Thursday that it has made significant progress in its IT upgrade which disrupted its banking services for over 48 hours.

The bank stated that its customers can now transact across its various channels, including debit cards, mobile app, internet banking, and through its agents nationwide.

In a statement posted on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, Zenith Bank apologized to its customers over the service disruption, saying it was part of an effort to serve them better. The bank acknowledged the inconvenience caused to its customers and thanked them for their patience and understanding.

The IT upgrade, which began on Tuesday, October 1, was initially expected to cause service disruptions for only a few hours. However, contrary to the bank’s promise that transactions would resume after 2:30 pm on the same day, customers were unable to access their funds for over 48 hours. The timing of the disruption, which coincided with salary payments, left many salary-earning customers of the bank stranded and unable to withdraw their money.

Zenith Bank’s statement suggests that while significant progress has been made, the IT upgrade has yet to be fully completed. The bank assured its customers that they can now perform transactions conveniently through various channels and also visit any of its branches nationwide for their banking needs.

The restoration of services comes as a relief to Zenith Bank’s customers who had been impacted by the prolonged outage. The bank will likely continue to monitor its systems closely to ensure smooth operations and prevent any further disruptions as it works towards completing the IT upgrade.
