The Nasarawa State Police Command has clarified that no ransom was paid for the release of the recently abducted Local Council Chairman, Safiyanu Andaha.

Andaha and one other person were kidnapped on January 1st in Ningo village and freed on Tuesday night after police mounted intense rescue efforts.
State Police Spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, revealed on Wednesday that the released victims confirmed no money exchanged hands, denying earlier unconfirmed reports of a N50 million ransom demand.
According to Nansel, the pressure from deployed police operatives tracking the kidnappers forced them to set the captives free around 8:40 PM on Tuesday.
The state’s Police Commissioner, Umar Nadada, had ordered a manhunt for the criminals after the incident, hoping to rescue them without ransom.
While Andaha has safely returned, Nansel said operations continue until the perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice to deter further incidents.
