The National Industrial Court has granted an interim injunction restraining the removal of Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo as the Chief Judge of Osun State.

In an ex-parte motion filed on November 15th, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo sued the Osun State Governor, Attorney General, Judicial Service Commission and Accountant General seeking to stop her removal from office.

The court, presided by Justice J.D. Peters, issued an order barring the defendants from interfering with Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo’s appointment, conditions of service, salary and benefits pending determination of the suit.

The Accountant General was mandated to continue paying her entitlements as Chief Judge while the Governor was directed to provide her security protection against harassment.

The Osun Attorney General was also advised to properly guide the government on complying fully with the court’s directives.

Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo’s legal team argued she was being persecuted for her gender as a wife, mother and grandmother. Her removal is allegedly unlawful.

The court adjourned the substantive suit to December 12th, directing service of court processes on the defendants.

The injunction provides temporary relief for Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo to continue serving pending resolution of the impasse over the Chief Judge position in Osun.
