The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, is set to resume work on Monday, nearly four months after he was injured when part of the state high court complex collapsed.

Justice Adeyeye was in his chambers on July 12 when the building partially collapsed, leaving him hospitalized. He later traveled to London for further treatment and recovery.

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, visited Justice Adeyeye in London on Thursday and said the Chief Judge is in high spirits and ready to return to Nigeria.

“His Lordship was full of appreciation to God Almighty for sparing his life and restoring his health,” Maikyau said in a statement.

Maikyau said Justice Adeyeye acknowledged the support he received from the Ekiti state government, legal icon Afe Babalola, the judiciary, and the NBA during his ordeal.

The NBA had decried the poor state of court infrastructure in Nigeria after the collapse that injured Justice Adeyeye. Maikyau condemned an attack on a judge in Gombe state earlier this week and directed the NBA to work with police to investigate the incident.
