Multichoice Nigeria has announced an increase in the cost of its DStv and GOtv packages, representing the second price hike from the pay-TV company this year.

In an email sent to customers, Multichoice said the new rates will take effect starting November 6, 2023. The company had previously reviewed prices on May 1 earlier this year.

Multichoice explained that the latest adjustment is due to rising operational costs. “We understand the impact this change may have on our valued customers and partners, but the rise in the cost of business operations has led us to make this difficult decision,” the email read.

Under the new pricing, the DStv Premium bouquet will increase from N24,500 to N29,500 monthly, while Compact+ moves from N16,600 to N19,800. The Compact package will now cost N12,500, up from N10,500 previously.

Lower tiers like Confam, Yanga, and Padi will now cost N7,400, N4,200 and N2,950 respectively, increased from the former rates of N6,200, N3,500 and N2,500. Access fees for add-on services have also been revised upwards.

On the GOtv platform, packages have similarly seen an upward review. GOtv Supa will now cost N7,600 from N6,400 before, while GOtv Max has moved to N5,700 from N4,850. GOtv Jolli will be N3,950, up from N3,300.

This latest price hike comes as Multichoice continues to face stiff competition from streaming services in the pay-TV market while battling with rising costs. The company however says the adjustments are necessary to maintain service quality for customers.
