Tony Elumelu, a renowned African investor and philanthropist, has been announced as the Keynote Speaker for the upcoming Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Abuja.

The conference, themed “Getting It Right, Charting the Course for Nigeria’s Nation Building,” is scheduled to take place from August 25 to September 1, 2023. Tony Elumelu will deliver his keynote address during the opening ceremony in August.
Elumelu, known for his significant contributions to Africa’s development, is the Founder and Chairman of Heirs Holdings, a family-owned investment company dedicated to transforming Africa through long-term investments in strategic sectors such as financial services, hospitality, power, energy, technology, and healthcare.
As the Chairman of the pan-African financial services group, the United Bank for Africa (UBA), which operates in multiple countries across Africa, the United Kingdom, France, and the UAE, Tony Elumelu has played a vital role in providing corporate, commercial, SME, and consumer banking services to over 35 million customers worldwide.
Tony Elumelu also holds the position of Chairman in Nigeria’s largest quoted conglomerate, Transcorp, which encompasses subsidiaries like Transcorp Power, a leading electricity producer in Nigeria, and Transcorp Hotels Plc, a renowned hospitality brand in the country.
Furthermore, he is the Founder and Chairman of Heirs Oil & Gas, an upstream oil and gas company with substantial assets, including Nigerian oil block OML17, boasting a current production capacity of 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and 2P reserves of 1.2 billion barrels of oil equivalent, with an additional 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent resources for further exploration.
