The Kaduna State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal was on Thursday told that the Independent National Electoral Commission had yet to produce the certified copies of the March 18th governorship result sheets in which Uba Sani was declared the winner.

A senior Advocate of Nigeria, Oluwale Iyamu, one of the lead counsels to the Peoples Democratic Partyâs Governorship candidate, Mohammed Ashiru, stated at the Tribunal sitting in Kaduna.
Meanwhile, the three-member tribunal headed by Justice Victor Oviawe adjourned the case to July 4th, 2023 in the case between Hon. Isa Ashiru of the PDP, Governor of Kaduna state, Uba Sani, All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Iyamu argued that it would be untidy and improper to tender them (result sheets evidence) in a piecemeal format, noting that it was better to go back and extract those forms from the INEC.
He said, âAs you are aware the documents required for the pursuit of the petition largely are result sheets and other processes available only in the official custody of INEC, which is also a party to this suit.
âWe have applied for certified copies of all the forms, particularly the result sheets of all the polling units from the beginning to the end so that we can take our case in a manner which is proper.
âNothing is wrong with the case, it is just a matter of ensuring that things are done properly.
âWe have asked for those documents and we are believing we shall get them, INEC is a public authority.â
Speaking to journalists shortly after the tribunal proceeding, Chief Duro Adeleye, SAN, who is lead Counsel to 2nd respondent, Governor Uba Sani, explained that the petitionerâs counsel sought for an adjournment for them to put their documents in order, âThis is because they had issues with their documents.â
âWe are satisfied with the tribunal, as it has been working in line with the procedures,â he added.
The PDP had challenged the victory of the Kaduna state Governor, Senator Uba Sani of the All Progress Congress, claiming that the last governorship election was manipulated in favour of the incumbent governor.
However, the ruling APC had discarded the claims, saying that the election that ushered in Senator Uba Sani was free, fair, and credible.
