The Anambra State government has approved and released funds for the deployment of virtual court hearing facilities in criminal matters in Anambra State.

According to a press release made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, the disbursement is in line with Gov. Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s Manifesto to facilitate the expeditious dispensation of justice in Anambra State, Anambra State Executive Council, and was approved upon Exco presentation by the Honourable Attorney General of Anambra State, Prof Sylvia Chika Ifemeje

According to the statement from The State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Prof. Sylvia Chika Ifemeje, the insecurity in the country and the need to avoid unnecessary delay in criminal proceedings prompted the state government to give approval to the virtual trial system.

The Commissioner noted that the installation of the new system in twenty courts and four correctional centres would decongest our Correctional Centres and also bring to an end the long delay in the dispensation of Criminal matters in the state .

The new system, from all indications, promises to enhance efficient and expeditious dispensation of justice in the state.
