The Chief Magistrates Court sitting in Makurdi Benue, has convicted Terkimbi Abraham also known as Boniface Terkimbi Ikyernum for impersonation and forgery.

Police arrested Terkimbi Abraham for using the law firm of J. S Okutepa SAN to impersonate one of his former lawyers, S T Akohol, following an investigation by the police with the assistance of the NBA Makurdi branch.
Delivering the judgment on Wednesday, Chief Magistrate M M Iorshe, sentenced him to 1year imprisonment without an option of fine.
The convict was arraigned upon FIR for impersonation and forgery of the signature of my former colleague in Chambers in a purported Quit Notice issued on the 1st November 2022.
Terkimbi, pleaded guilty to the allegations of forgeries and impersonation involving the use of the name of the law firm of J.S. Okutepa SAN and Company.
The Learned Silk, whose letterhead was used JS Okutepa, SAN, said; “I want to express my profound gratitude to NBA Makurdi Branch led by the first female chair, Mrs M M Ikwulono for the prompt and efficient manner this issue was handle.
“I urge members of NBA nation wide to look out for quacks who are infiltrating into our noble profession and punish them under the law.
“I want to thank all my colleagues who drew my attention to this illegal and criminal conduct in that very badly couched quit Notice.
“The legal profession must protect itself from quackery and quacks who are hell bent on bringing the nobility of the profession down.”
