*Adekunle Ojo SAN, Law School ’18 Set, Ajetomobi, Others Endorse AA For July Election

The ambition of Adesina Adegbite to emerge General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association in the election slated for 16th of July has received fresh momentum following endorsements from various quarters.

In the latest wave of endorsements in support of his ambition, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Adekunle Ojo SAN, the Nigerian Law School Students Representative Council of 2018, Dave Ajetomobi Esq and Bamidele Obadina Esq in separate publications have made their support for AA, as is popularly known, plain and unequivocal.

According to Dr Adekunle Ojo, SAN who is a Former Chairman, NBA Ikeja Former 2nd Vice President of the Association, “It gives me great pride to endorse Adesina Adegbite (AA) for the position of General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association.

I have known AA for close to two decades and I can say, without any iota of doubt, that he is competent and well groomed to serve as the engine room of our great Association. He has the capacity to deliver because he has the requisite experience both at local and national levels.

AA has developed an enviable reputation of extreme diligence and incredible commitment to the Bar over time. I entertain no doubt that a vote for AA is a vote for excellent secretarial services.”

In an endorsement from the Students’ Representative Council, Nigerian Law School 2018 set signed by Adekunle Olanipekun Esq (Chairman, SRC Abuja Campus), Babafemi Falayi (Chairman, SRC Enugu Campus), Segun Faniran (Chairman, SRC Bayelsa Campus), Victor Kuforiji (Chairman, SRC Kano Campus), and Bamidele (Chairman, SRC Yola Campus), they said:

“The three (3) candidates for NBA General Secretary are unquestionably brilliant bar men, but Mr. Adesina Adegbite popularly known as (AA) has consistently demonstrated his leadership and service qualities to the progress of young lawyers in our country .

In 2018, immediately after Bar final examinations, the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School handed the Chairman of the SRC Abuja Campus an invitation from the NBA to the 2018 General Conference to lead the delegation from the different campuses at the conference.

A few hours after the meeting, we got a call from AA, who was then the NBA Welfare secretary and the brain behind the invitation. He ensured that we were catered for adequately throughout the conference and even accorded respect as lawyers though we were not called to the Nigerian Bar yet at that time.

Young Lawyers have benefited greatly from AA’s mentoring and placement assistance in prestigious law firms. He has continually shown himself to be a fantastic leader. The exposure to NBA affairs courtesy AA made most of us develop more than passive interest in the activities of NBA, hence the emergence of one us Adekunle Olanipekun as NBA YLF Chairman in Abuja.

Our belief that AA would perform even better as the General Secretary of the Bar has been further strengthened by this action and his much talk about excellent performances as the National Welfare Secretary. Therefore, we enjoin all members of the Bar to reward excellence and hard work with more work.”

Another Former Chairman of the Ikeja branch, Dave Ajetomobi Esq, attributed AA’s humility, open mindedness, frankness, and tenacity of purpose for his attraction and support for his ambition.

He said: “I met AA when he joined the Ikeja Bar, almost two decades ago. I took to him because of some attributes I observed in him which included humility, open mindedness, frankness and tenacity of purpose. After my election as Chairman of the Branch in 2008, and the position of Assistant Secretary was vacant, I informed him that I wanted to co-opt him for the position. Surprisingly, he did not jump at it, he pleaded with me to give him time to think it over, he later accepted to serve in that capacity. I never regretted my choice as he was always there for me and gave exceptional support to the then Secretary. He gave his all, he was loyal and committed! We attended all NEC meetings together.

At 2009 Sokoto NEC meeting, our driver needed rest and we needed to attend a programme, AA drove our Toyota coaster bus successfully to and fro the venue, in other words, he is a solution provider! Another thing that stands him out is his integrity, I have many instances of such display which I will not be able to state here, but I can boldly say that he has a lot of integrity and that he is what the bar requires at this critical point of our development. Where others see problems, AA sees opportunity! AA is mobile! He has served in various positions at the branch and national levels and he performed beautifully well. Those are the things that endeared him to me. I’m with AA, please join me! I commend him to everyone that desire a Secretary with gravitas!”

Also, a member of the NBA Lagos, Olanrewaju Bamidele Obadina, in a message made available to TheNigeriaLawyer said: “Adesina Adegbite is a Bar man per excellent. Very diligent, committed and have passion for the growth and development of Legal profession.

I am a living witness to his topnotch service delivery as a Welfare Secretary of our National NBA. I have no doubt about his capacity to transform our National secretariat into an enviable status if given the opportunity to serve as our General Secretary.

I am supporting AA and I am also encouraging everyone that meant well for our National body to join hand with us in fixing this square peg in the square hole.

On AA mandate I stand.”
