A Lawyer, Ogbachalu Abuchi Goshen Esq, who last week made the news for appearing before an Okpoko Magistrate court full robed as a Priest with clerical robes, roman collar, and a long class was today sighted at the ongoing NBA Section on Legal Practice conference which kicked off in Asaba earlier today.

Recall that last week, TheNigeriaLawyer reported a dramatic scene which ensued at a Anambra Magistrate Court sitting in Okpoko when Abuchi appeared before it in a reverend’s regalia.

His appearance however took a dramatic dimension as he was interrupted by the Magistrate who insisted that he was not robed according to the rules of the profession.

An argument ensued afterwards between the lawyer and the Magistrate which forced the Magistrate to leave the court premises.

Justifying his action, Abuchi told newsmen that he was licensed by the Supreme Court’s decision which permitted Muslim female students to put on hijab in schools, to accordingly dress in respect to his religious faith in public.

In a picture sighted by TheNigeriaLawyer, Abuchi was seen earlier today at the NBA-SLP Conference in an immaculate white cassock and ecclesiastical headwear. He was flanked by a lady a black gown at his right hand, and a man on on complete suit by his left.

Recently, many lawyers have adopted dressing to courts in their religious attires as a protest to their dissatisfaction with the judgment of the Supreme Court which permits hijab to be worn in schools by Muslim students.
