A Candidate for the Office of National Welfare Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association in the forthcoming NBA General elections, Auta Nyada has commended members of the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria for their choice of theme for their expanded NEC Meeting currently holding in Abuja.

The theme of the expanded NEC Meeting of the Association is “Between Professional Challenges and Societal Expectations”. According to Nyada, the theme speaks to every member of the legal profession. He said the profession like any other has its challenges, yet, members of the public still hold the profession in her esteem and expect a lot from Lawyers.

He thanked the leadership and members of MULAN for choosing to address a critical discourse of that nature and prayed the results of the discussion betters the lot of the legal profession.

The statement reads in full:

“I wish to warmly welcome the members of the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN) to the Nation’s capital on the occasion of her expanded National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

I also would like to humbly commend your choice of theme, “Between Professional Challenges and Societal Expectations” as I feel it speaks to each and every member of the legal profession.

The legal profession, like any other, is not bereft of it’s challenges. Yet, despite the hurdles that exist in Legal profession, and the hardships endured by members of, the legal profession, the society expects, and sometimes rightly so, a lot from the legal profession.

Legal practitioners therefore find themselves working to overcome the challenges that exist within the profession while simultaneously ensuring they fulfill their obligations to society.

I therefore would like to express my appreciation to the leadership and members of MULAN for choosing to shine a spot light on such an issue and I pray that the results of their discourse serves to better the lot of the legal profession in particular and our nation in general.

I wish you all fruitful deliberations as well as a safe trip back home.”
