*Expresses Support For Women In Leadership Positions
*Wishes The Forum Fruitful Deliberations
*Urges Participants To Come Out With Impactful Resolutions

The Chairman of the NBA Welfare committee and candidate for the office of the NBA President, Yakubu Chinoko Maikyau SAN has felicitated with the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) WOMEN FORUM (WF), Bayelsa State on the occassion of her first maiden meeting, wishing them fruitful deliberations.

In a goodwill message made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, Maikyau SAN expressed his heartfelt felicitation to leadership and members of the NBAWF, Bayelsa State. According to him, the NBAWF in general had come a long way, from an abandoned initiative, to one that has moved from strength to strength thanks to the resilience of the women in the legal profession. “I am aware that that NBAWF was first created in 2006 by the Olisa Agbakoba SAN led administration but later became inactive but then through the resilience and doggedness of our dear woman in the profession, the NBAWF was reinstated at the NBA AGM on 29th August 2019 and has since been going from strength to strength”, he stated.

Expressing his sincere support to having women in positions of leadership and influence so as to serve to role models, the learned silk stated thus: “I am a very firm advocate of the fact that having women leaders in positions of influence to serve as role models is not only critical to the career advancement of women but also generates broader societal impacts benefiting women, men and the Nation.”

It was the belief of Maikyau SAN that the NBA Women Forum (NBAWF) had come to stay, and that it played a significant role in the NBA and thus needed to be strengthened. His words read thus in part: “I believe the NBAWF has come to stay and should be strengthened and encouraged to not only achieve on its mandate but also surpass same, of which I assure you of my support in this regard.”

The learned went on to wish the participants successful deliberations, whilst charging them to come up with impactful resolutions that can improve the success of women in the legal profession and Nigeria at large.
“While wishing you very fruitful deliberations, I urge you to come out with resolutions that will impact positively not only on success of women in the profession but also in our dear Nation.” He stated.
