*Commends FIDA Lagos Branch For Holding Event To Mark 2022 UN International Day For The African Child

A Former General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association and Presidential Candidate, Jonathan Gunu Taidi has felicitated with the Chairperson and Members of FIDA Lagos on the occasion of the 2022 United Nations International Day for the African Child.

Commenting on the theme of this year’s commemoration: “Education as a Catalyst for Boosting the Self Image of the African Child”, Taidi noted that education is the bedrock of development and praised the choice of the theme emphasising and it is only proper that the focus this year shows how education impinges on the psyche, especially given the astronomical number of out-of-school children in various parts of Africa.

Taidi in his goodwill message made available to TheNigeriaLawyer also blamed poor access to education for increased restiveness amongst the young population in Africa while also stating that all African children as of right should be educated.

“Poor access to education is no doubt responsible for the growing number of restiveness, endemic poverty and rising crime across the African continent.

As a matter of right, every child on the African soil should be educated. This is the surest way to reduce, drastically, the insecurity and various forms of criminality that are making the continent inhospitable.”

He continued, “I congratulate FIDA Lagos State on this occasion and wish members a memorable event.”
