The Lawyers Soccer League has conducted draws for the 2022 Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau Champions Cup sponsored by the Chairman of the NBA Welfare Committee and NBA Presidential Aspirant, Y.C.Maikyau.
The Lawyers’ Soccer’s League is an organization poised towards the promotion of sports and entertainment amongst lawyers across Nigeria. The League is owned and managed by lawyers who have great passion for the game of football and have strived hard to bring the fun, entertainment, social bonding and unity encapsulated in the game of football to our doorsteps owing to the fact that football only speak one language.
The organization on Tuesday, 7th of June, 2022 held draws for the forthcoming cup in Ibadan.
The draws were made between the 8 invited branches of the Nigerian Bar Association to wit: IBADAN BRANCH (The Host Branch), LAGOS BRANCH, AKURE BRANCH, OSOGBO BRANCH, ADO-EKITI BRANCH, OSOGBO BRANCH, SAGAMU BRANCH AND ABEOKUTA BRANCH.
The draw took place at the office of the Chairman, Ibadan Football Association; Mr. Rotimi Alli Esq. and the Chairman conducted the draws.
Speaking just before the draws, Olujimi Olujide-Poko, the Head of the Organizing Committee commended Mr. Y.C MAIKYAU SAN for supporting the project.
According to him, Maikyau SAN is a man of honour, integrity and a bridge between the young and the senior members of the bar who believes the welfare of members should be of utmost priority of the NBA. He said he is not surprised Y.C decided to be a part of this because he is a man who believes in One Dynamic Bar.
After the draws, the final fixture for the tournament paired IBADAN BRANCH vs LAGOS BRANCH, ABEOKUTA BRANCH vs OSOGBO BRANCH, SAGAMU BRANCH vs ADO-EKITI BRANCH and AKURE BRANCH vs ILORIN BRANCH.
The competition is scheduled to commence on the Saturday, the 11th of June, 2022 at 10 am and will be on till the 25th of June, 2022.
The venue of the opening ceremony is the LEAD CITY UNIVERSITY STADIUM, IBADAN. Chief host is Mr. Olayinka Esan, Chairman, Ibadan Branch and the Chairman of the day is Prince Lateef O. Fagbemi SAN.
