A Member of the Governing Board of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria and immediate Past Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Branch, MAI Akande Esq has emerged as the Chairman, Law Officers Association of Nigeria, Kwara State Chapter.
Akande, an Assistant Director in the Kwara State Ministry of Justice and other Executive Committee members were elected unopposed and have been sworn in by the Director of Public Prosecution, Kwara State Ministry of Justice, J. A. Mumini SAN.
At the inauguration ceremony held on Wednesday, 18th May, 2022 at the Governor’s Office Complex, Ahmadu Bello Way, GRA, Ilorin, the Learned Silk, J. A. Mumini SAN urged the new leadership of the association of lawyers in government employment to live up to expectations and not to betray the mandate entrusted to them.
Akande in his reaction said that the Law Officers in the Kwara State Ministry of Justice are primus inter pares (first among the equals) and the “Kwara MOJ family” is one of the largest in Nigeria with about a hundred legal practitioners including a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, three (3) permanent secretaries and distinguished legal practitioners; inclusive of State Prosecutors, Arbitrators, Public Defencer, Gender Rights Activists, General Practitioners and PhD holder.
He said the State Ministry oversee LOAN in Kwara State and he promised that the present Law Officers leadership will be above board and fair in the discharge of their duties. He promised to encourage legal practitioners in the the services of Nigeria Police, EFCC, Immigration, Customs, Local Government Service Commission and governmental agencies to join LOAN Kwara State.
The LOAN Chair, has earlier extolled the high quality leadership virtues of the immediate Past Chairman, A. A. Daib Esq. and promised to build on his achievements.
The constitution of the Executive Committee are as follows:- MAI Akande – Chairman, Mrs. M. O. Adebisi — Vice Chairman and Mr S. O. Dada is the Secretary. Others are Mrs Medinat Jimoh — PRO, an NBA Ilorin Chairmanship Aspirant, S. M. H. Kosemani — Welfare Secretary, Mrs Olaitan Opoola — Internal Auditor, Mrs Rukayat O. Yusuf — Treasurer, Mr O. O. David — Fin. Secretary and Mrs Tolulope Oniyide — Assistant Secretary.
