The Chairman of the Welfare Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Y. C. Maikyau, SAN has advised legal practitioners to use this Easter season to eschew all forms of conduct that can bring the legal profession to disrepute or public opprobrium in any circumstance.

Maikyau, in a statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, described the Easter as a manifestation of the divine Grace of God Almighty,

He said, “I am elated to join my fellow Christian colleagues to commemorate this year’s Easter celebration. This is indeed a manifestation of the divine Grace of God Almighty, who has presented us the opportunity to celebrate Easter this year despite all the challenges facing us as a nation presently.

“Easter at its very essence is the season where Christians celebrate and remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It represents the triumph of good over evil, life over death. This season also reminds us of the need for us as human beings to show love, compassion and forgiveness to one another particularly as Jesus Christ made the ultimate sacrifice for humanity on the cross of Calvary. A sacrifice, which frankly speaking is beyond the comprehension of ordinary human understanding and at its very core is the ultimate expression of love for humankind.

“The Easter period gives us the opportunity to reflect on how we can imbibe the teachings and actions of Jesus Christ in our relationship with God and our fellow human beings. I therefore enjoin all Nigerians particularly legal practitioners to use this special season to eschew all forms of conduct that can bring the legal profession to disrepute or public opprobrium in whatever circumstance we may find ourselves. I enjoin us to love our neighbours by displaying increased spirit of accommodation, kindness, patience, and tolerance to bring lasting peace in our country.”

The learned silk went further to state that this Easter season reminds us that hope must never be lost about the progress and development of our country Nigeria. As dark as the road may seem, there always lies light at the end of the tunnel.

He prayed for the Easter to bring a renewal of hope, peace, faith, health, love, the spirit of God and fulfilled prayers.

“This Easter season reminds us that hope must never be lost about the progress and development of our country Nigeria. As dark as the road may seem, there always lies light at the end of the tunnel . It is also my vision, that our great Bar Association achieves self-actualization by becoming an organisation that is underpinned by genuine comradeship and mutual respect/love for one another irrespective of our differences. In other words, a Dynamic Bar that works for the benefit of all members and speaks with one voice will be an important asset to our great nation.
May this Easter bring us a renewal of hope, peace, faith, health, love, the spirit of God and fulfilled prayers.

“Have a pleasant Easter celebration” Maikyau, SAN
