Immediate Past NBA National Asst. Secretary, Ewenode.O William, said it was heart warming for Nigerian women and all lovers of our women folks to hear the Speaker of the House of Representatives recognizing the huge effect of the Gender based Bills which were hitherto refused and struck down by the House.

Ewenode, in his statement on Tuesday, said he must confess that, but, for the massive outcry and continuous engagement of several women groups with the relevant stakeholders, this milestone of reconsideration of the Bills would not have taken place.

“I recall the massive and aggressive campaign put up by most of our women groups such FIDA led by Mrs. Amina Suzanah Agbaje, AWLA, led by Mrs. Mandy Demechi-Asagba, the NBA General Secretary, Mrs Joyce Oduah etc.

“These amazons has by their publicity stunts showed that our women are not  “pushovers”

“Having carefully analyzed the importance of some of these Bills,  I have no other option than to say thank you to all our women and to the Speaker and members of the House of Representatives.

“I also enjoin the Leadership of the Senate to liaise with the Lower Chamber and ensure the speedy passage of all the Gender Related Bills that they earlier refused to pass.”
