Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN appointed as Patron and Honourary Member of OSU/OOU Law Alumni Association at the Annual General Meeting of the Association held on December 18, 2021 at Ibis Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos State.
The OSU/OOU Law Alumni Association held her 2021 Annual General Meeting at the Ibis Hotels, Ikeja Lagos State on Saturday, December 18, 2021 and hosted Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN. Delivering his pep talk on the topic “The contemporary lawyer and the future of the legal profession in Nigeria”, Chief Gadzama, SAN x-rayed the concept of the topic of discourse, stated emphasised that despite the daunting challenges facing the legal profession in Nigeria and by extension Nigeria as an entity, a contemporary lawyer, must take advantage of the challenges to better envision the future. He narrated how he started his law practice back then in Maiduguri and how by sheer hard work and God’s grace he has become what he is today, encouraged members of the Association not to allow the present challenges kill their dreams and aspirations in life.
The Learned Silk also emphasized that a contemporary lawyer, must of necessity, skill up, re-skill and upskill to be in tune with realities of law practice. The acquaintance with and employment of technology is a sine qua non to being a contemporary lawyer in modern day Nigeria (attached herewith is a copy of the paper).
Enthused by the speech and in recognition of the immense contributions to the Nigerian Bar Association, some members of the Alumni Association took time, one after the other, to make comments and testify to the person of Chief Gadzama, SAN and encouraged him to continue in the good works he has been doing. Just after the pleasant comments, a motion was and carried on the floor to appoint the Learned Silk as a Patron and Honourary Member of the Alumni Association.
The Learned Silk expressed his gratitude to the Association for considering him worthy to be a Patron and an Honourary Member and promised to do what is expected of him as a member of the Association.
The AGM of the Association was graced by the Mr. Kunle Ogunba, SAN, Dr. Gbade Akinrinmade, Dean, Faculty of Law, OOU, Hon. Justice Mr. Ademola Bakre, Justice of the Gambia, the immediate past President of the Association, Mr. Olusegun Sipeolu, the Chairman, NBA Epe Branch, Mr. Ademola Koko amongst other diginitaries.
